This may sound unusual, but it is delicious! You’ll be surprised. It makes a wonderful fall sandwich when pears are in full season!
Grilled Pear & Cheese

2 TAB butter -
1 small onion, chopped -
salt & pepper -
8 slices pumpernickel bread - 6 oz Gouda
- 1 Anjou pear, sliced (or whatever you can find)
In small skillet melt 1 TAB butter of medium heat; add onion, salt, and pepper; cook until tender and caramelized. Heat griddle, large skillet, or outdoor grill. Top bread with cheese, onion, pear, and bread. Cook 3-4 minutes per side. Cut in half & serve. Makes 4 servings.
