What is Reading the Alphabet?
Reading the Alphabet is a program to help you teach your PreK to read in a fun, age-appropriate way.
What’s included in Reading the Alphabet?
Reading the Alphabet contains 30 lessons (the entire program is an astonishing 1300 pages). Each weekly lesson includes a lesson plan, worksheets, readers, and more to help you teaching PreK children how to read in a systematic way. Your child will learn letter sounds, Phonological & Phonemic Awareness, learn basic CVC words, and practice number and fine motor skills. The program was put together by This Reading Mama who has a M.Ed. in Elementary Reading.
Who should use this?
It is intended for PreK children who know their letters and sounds, but are not yet ready for a fast paced, full-blown Kindergarten curriculum. So think 4 year olds or struggling Kindergartners.
What did I think?
I think this is a robust program with lots of fun activities. You can tell This Reading Mama put a lot of time and thought into the program. And at only $10 – it’s a great price for us homeschoolers!
The only real downside to the program is there could be a lot of printing. I highly suggest not printing all 1300 pages at once, but instead see what activities resonate the most with YOUR individual child and print those. You can always view the lesson plans right off your computer or ipad.
What does it cost?
You can buy this complete PreK reading program (including extra material) for only $10. This is a great price to get such a complete preschool reading program.
