Independence Day Food for Kids

add blueberries to batter

Mix up your favorite pancake recipe. [not only are these delicious, they make a small batch which works great for this special recipe]

Make one pancake per person plane (making sure to leave one side very lightly browned to be mostly white for the stars.)

cook pancakes

Now add 1/2 cup or so blueberries and mash into the batter. Now cook at least one blue pancake per person (making sure to leave one side very lightly browned to be mostly white for the stars.blue.)

make red pancakes with strawberries

Now mix up another batch of your favorite pancake recipe.  This time mash in 1 cup raspberries or strawberries to get a nice red color. [if you like you can intensify your color with food coloring. If you do, I suggest using natural food based food coloring no artificially dyed one.]

cut out stars

Now cut out little stars from the white pancakes to make stars. You will want 4-5 small stars per person.

Finished Patriotic Flag Pancakes for 4th of July fun for kids

Finally, you stack up your 4th of July breakfast. Put the red pancake down in the middle. Add whip cream [we make ours fresh with this whip cream canister] to make about 4 stripes. Now add your blue pancake off to the side. Top the blue pancake with 4-5 stars. Now you have a super fun and easy to make Independence Day Breakfast for kids!
