Create Your Peaceful Homeschool Now

July is here, the Back-to-School sales are about to begin, and the first day of school is just around the corner. Now is the best time of year to prepare for a peaceful homeschool.

Create a Peaceful Homeschool

Print all printables for the year or quarter now

I kept promising myself that I'd print everything the Sunday before, but it never happened. We went to a friend's house, family came to visit, or I sat down to enjoy a good book instead. Have you ever done this? Try printing and filing the needed printables in one fell swoop during the summer or during a break between quarters. You'll never skip a subject again because you forgot to print the needed papers for the week.

Color code your children

I don't know what it is with kids, but they'll argue over pencils if it means avoiding math for a few more minutes. My solution was to color code my kids' school supplies. Color coding prevents fights during the homeschool day. The children knows whose pencil is whose, and the fight is taken right out of them.

Pick Up Needed Supplies

Stock up on school supplies

Use the Back to School Sales as a prime opportunity to purchase plenty of school supplies.

Paper, scissors, crayons, and pencils are cheap. You can easily stock up a year's supply. I actually overstock on spiral notebooks, index cards, and pencils for my children to use. School supplies are easy to store, much more expensive in winter, and they're handy to have around.

Purchase science kits or supplies

Have you ever walked into the kitchen to run a science experiment and realized you don't have a critical component? I have. The solution is to purchase the science kits or the nonperishable supplies during the summer. Science experiments no longer get skipped because of a lack of critical components. They're sitting neatly on a shelf waiting for you.

Invest in art supplies

By the same token, invest in art supplies during the summer. Pick up aluminum foil, water colors, plaster of Paris, and tempera paints. Stock up on chalk, colored pencils, crayons, and paper. Art will never be avoided because you forgot to put the supplies on the list, instead they'll be safely stored at home!

Preparing your homeschool during the summer creates a relaxing and peaceful homeschool. You're never left floundering for lack of printables or searching for supplies.
