Zerubbabel Leads the Israelites Home Sunday School Craft

Here is a simple and fun Sunday School craft kids can make alongside the story of Zerubbabel and Israelites returning from exile.

Zerubbabel Leads the Israelites Home Sunday School Craft for Kids

We made this simple necklace craft to go with our Sunday School lesson on Zerubbabel leading the Israelites back from exile.

Sunday School Lesson from Ezra 1-3

In our Sunday School lesson taken from Ezra 1-3, we talked about how God fulfilled His promise to the Israelites [he sent to the prophet Jeremiah before the exile] that the Israelites would be taken captives and  would be in exile for 70 years. After the fall of the Babylon to Persian King Cyrus. God softened King Cyrus’ heart and in 539 B.C. he allowed the Israelites to return to the land of Judah.

The people were even given gold, silver, and animals to take with them as they returned home; these were the same things that were plundered from the temple when they were taken captives 70 years earlier.

The people, led by Zerubbabel, began work on rebuilding the temple.

Zerubbabel Return from Exile Necklace Craft

In today’s Bible story, we saw how God’s people were allowed to return home to Jerusalem with gifts from those who once took them prisoner.

The kids strung Fruit loops on a piece of yarn. I also made a pendant with the main idea of the story we talked about and the scripture reference. You can download the pendants below.
