If you’ve been around my website for any amount of time you’ll see that I like to make learning
FUN! Here is one of the fun, creative, hands on activities I came up with for teaching our 1st Grade Sunday School class the Books of the Bible.
![PVC stand PVC stand](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEr1dcm_YmGubB5RCCQDxQEVcFc61CZdtIvoZ9gFIlvdEcuCArGGsYi-ofsOjw1yCtF7Pf-dOXN6K3_4saiEyBwsIsceM-pJapCCTQ0ZlLLhW1ofZz5IImcqRKr67F68J4RekHEwIGuw/?imgmax=800)
My husband made the stand, trunk, and branches from 3/4” PVC Pipe. It is inexpensive and easy to work with. I spray painted it light brown.

Then I used my
hot glue gun to attach 66 clothespins [
cheapest and good quality from the dollar store] evenly to the branches. I then labeled the clothespins with a sharpie from number 1 to 66 so the sequence was clear to the kids.

Then I bought a bag of leaves from Joan Fabrics (in their floral department). These leaves looked more realistic and will hold up better than construction paper leaves. I printed off labels so the Books of the Bible would be clear. I attached the label with more hot glue to make sure they stuck.

To complete the Books of the Bible Activity all the kids do is put the leaves on the tree in order by pressing the clothespins open and inserting the appropriate leaf.
Our tree is about 48” tall (a good height for 1st and 2nd grade).
The bottom branch contains only the New Testament Books of the Bible (it worked out well that way!)
I store all the leaves in a large ziplock bag.
