Blends are easy to spot.
When you sound out a blend slowly, such as "fr" you can still hear the individual "f" and "r" sound. Where as with a digraph, you only hear the one sound. For example, when we say the digraph "sh", we don't sound it out as "s" and "h", only "sh".
This book includes s blends, r blends and l blends. I've also added in "tw" as a bonus
Blends
Preparation
Print the blends book and cut out the pages - there are four book pages per sheet. Then staple the book together on the left hand side.
To Play
Choose a blend to work on such as "gr". Say the blend "gr" and say it slowly so you can hear the individual "g" and "r" sounds. Then trace over the blend and color in the picture.
Extension Activity
On the back of each page get the kids to write down other things that start with that blend.
