Trace Number

There is write and wipe mat for numbers zero to ten. It's a great activity to use for morning work or as a maths center at Christmas time.

Preparation

I printed and laminated the owl write and wipe number mats. Then I cut each mat along the dotted line in the center. Then I placed some washable markers and damp cloths into a basket, and spread the owl write and wipe mats around it. To make the damp cloths, I just cut a cleaning cloth into rectangles and moistened it slightly with water.

To Play

My students each grabbed one number mat each and a washable marker. Then they traced over the numerals and number words. After that they wiped their mat clean and chose another write and wipe mat.

Extension Activity

To challenge the kids further, I got them to turn their mats over and write the numbers on the back - without peeking! Then they flipped the card over to see if they remembered how to write the number correctly.
