After a very cold and snowy winter, we are so excited to finally see sunshine and warmer temperatures. That means that Summer is just around the corner! We can’t wait to spend our days at the beach and cooling off in the water.
On those hot summer afternoons with 100+ degree temperatures, we like to take breaks in the comforts of our air-conditioned house. It’s a fun time to be creative and make simple, summer themed crafts like this Paper Bowl Sun Craft. This easy-to-make craft is perfect for children of any age to create.
Summer Crafts for Kids
Supplies:
- Paper bowl or plates
- Yellow paint
- Paint brush
- Yellow card stock or construction paper
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Black marker
- Yarn or String (optional)
When creating our crafts, we love to use paper plates but thought we would use paper bowls for this summer craft to add more dimension to our project. This Paper Bowl Sun Craft is an inexpensive project for kids to make too. Whatever supplies you don’t have at home, you can find at the dollar store.
Paint the bottom of the paper bowl with the yellow paint.
As the paint is drying, cut triangles out of the yellow paper.
Glue the triangles to the rim of the bowl so that they stick out for the sun’s rays. Glue the googly eyes onto the center of the bottom of the bowl. Draw a mouth with the black maker.
Cut and glue a piece of yarn or string the rim of the bowl so you have the option of hang the sun up.
HINT: Painting, cutting, and gluing are great ways for young children to develop their fine motor skills and hand muscle strength.
This Paper Bowl Sun Craft is a fun project for kids to create on a hot, summer day. After their craft is finished, they can hang their creation in the house or on a cover porch for an adorable summer decoration.
