FREE Color Names Printable Activity

Learn to recognize color names with this FREE festive fall coloring printable! This is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and a great fall activity for kids!

FREE Color Words printable activity! This color words kindergarten worksheet is such a fun way for kids from preschool, prek, kindergarten, and first grade to learn color words with a printable fall activity for kids

There are two versions of this fun Read and Color Activity-- a color version and a black and white version, thus children in preschool through 1st grade are able to work on the same activity!  It's a fun and simple way to get children reading all while making a colorful pumpkin patch.

My kiddos love a chance to break out the markers, colored pencils, and crayons during school work. Coloring makes school work much more fun!  In this Read and Color Activity, your child will practice recognizing color words.  Your child will make a colorful pumpkin patch once he/she has completed the activity.

Color Names

The activity also reinforces language and reading skills.  You can have your child read and fill in the blank with the name of each color pumpkin.

  • I see a "red" pumpkin.

  • I see a "yellow pumpkin." And so on....

Preschool Color Words

One printable is geared towards preschoolers and shows the color of each color word.  This a great way to reinforce color recognition with little ones!

The printable has your child recognizing the colors: red, yellow, blue, purple, brown, green, orange, white, pink, black, and gray.  For the last pumpkin, the child is tasked with creating a "colorful" pumpkin using any and all colors he/she would like.

As you can see, my 4 year old make stripes of all the other colors he used during the activity.

The other version of this Read and Color printable is geared towards beginning and early readers. Using the phonics rules he/she knows, have your child sound out each color word and then color the pumpkin.

FUN Extension Ideas:

  • As your child reads one of their favorite books, have them color in the pumpkins when they read one of the color words on their color worksheets

  • Go on a scavenger hunt and have your child color in the pumpkins on their color names worksheet when they see either the color or the color word on your adventure

Enjoy this simple reading printable working on color words!  It is perfect for fall!
