Our Favorite Christmas Recipes
Wassail
This Wassail recipe is our families traditional recipe we use every year. Kids and adults alike enjoy the festive smell and flavor, plus the warm drink warms us up on those cold winter days.
In a large pot put 8 cups apple cider (apple juice in a pinch), 3 1/2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice (that's one big can), and 2 cinnamon sticks.
Add in 1/3 cup of honey.
Next add in 1/3 teaspoon nutmeg plus a couple dashes of cinnamon if you like.
Now zest a lemon (or use store bought lemon peel, but fresh is better) and then cut the lemon in half and sqeeze out the lemon juice to add to the pot.
After you've simmered all the ingredients together so the flavors mix together you will have this amazing, festive wassail all ready to serve.
One of my favorite parts is smelling the wassail gently simmering on the stove top. It makes the whole house smell like Christmas. We drink this putting up the tree, for family game night, with meals, and on Christmas morning as we open presents round the tree.
Nothing smells or tastes more like Christmas to me than this traditional wassail recipe.
