Homemade Gift in a Jar

November 2011 310

I love homemade gifts! Not only do they show the person that you really care, but they are PERFECT for that person that has everything.  I thought this was a fun idea because it was homemade, personalized, pretty, and practical all at the same time!!

Gift Jar Ideas:

  • Dessert in a jar which would be perfect to give to friends or neighbors who may have their fill of holiday cookies now, but are needing something sweet in a month or two!

  • Main dishes to help out someone who lives alone or who just had a baby.

  • Dip in a bag would make a great hostess gift that would be sweet & thoughtful, without overdoing it.

Here is how we made our Main Dish Soup: Minnie helped make the soup by putting in one ingredient into the Quart canning jar at a time to make pretty layers.

Then we personalized it by tracing everybody in our families’ hand (even the grown-ups!) We wrote on the different hands as you can see below who it was for, Merry Christmas, type of soup, and instructions (just add 10 cups water!). The clever part was it said, “We wanted to give you a HAND with dinner.”

Then we attached our hands with a red bow & whala ~ the perfect gift for my Grandma who lives to far to make dinner for her (8 hours each way), but who lives alone and would appreciate dinner being made. Plus she has an adorable hand of each of her great-grandkids with their names & ages written on the back.
