Best Chocolate Cake Recipe

Now I know you are probably more interested in the look of the cake, but let me tell you about the amazing chocolaty cake inside first! It is my favorite chocolate cake recipe EVER!

  • Devil’s Food Cake Mix dry

  • Large box Instant Chocolate Pudding

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 cup veggie oil

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/2 pkg semisweet chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together and pour into a greased pan. We made a 8” and a 4” round cake. To serve without the topping try baking in a Bundt cake for another spectacular look. Look on the back of the mix to see how long they advise cooking AND add 10 minutes (or until set in the middle).

We drizzled this glaze on top and let it cool cool about 5 minutes.

pretty M&M and Kit Kat cake

Beautiful Candy Decorated Cake

While the cake baked and cooled, we unwrapped the fun size Kit-Kat bars. If you don’t let the cake cool slightly the Kit Kat bars will melt!

Next, place the Kit Kat candy around the cake and used a ribbon to secure the candy & give it a nice polished look. Any ribbon will do – we had this leftover from Christmas.

Finally, pour in the M&M topping. You actually don’t need as much as you may think – you just need to cover the cake.  So 1/2 a medium bag of M&M’s is fine. You may also want to try this with Reeces Pieces or fresh fruit. It looks decadent to look at and leaves a small topping to each piece when cut without going crazy on the candy.
