I am always looking for hands on ways to help my kids practice their spelling words in a fun way. These also work well for creative spelling tests too.
Hands on Spelling with Lego
Spelling can be lots of fun when you get to spell with Lego! This easy to make activity just requires:
- Lego pieces
- alphabet stickers [you can print the ones we used on Avery #5267 here] or a sharpie to make letters
- a list of spelling words [or words to test]
- an elementary age, homeschool child ready to have some fun!
In our homeschool we like to do some fun, hands on activities [like Connect 4 Spelling Words or Spelling with Mini Cups] with our spelling words to make them sink in. Spelling with LEGO blocks is just one of the fun ways for kids to remember spelling words as they build them letter by letter.
I made the following four alphabets to use with our hand on spelling practice. They are color coded so kids can build all in the same font if they like or mix and match when additional letters or colors are desired.
- lower elementary boxed letters
- simple, clear font
- Disney inspired font {for some Disney fun every day}
- and cursive (for 3rd graders on up)
