How Many Days at Disney World?
Well, that depends on how long you can spare, what your vacation budget is, the age of your kids, and how many parks you intend to see. Following are three different options based on your unique family. And don’t forget to check out the park by park guide including suggested touring plans and more:
For the average family, a week at Disney World will be perfect.
It will be long enough to see all the highlights, repeat some favorites, and truly immerse in the magic. If I was spending a 6-7 days at Disney World I would do the following:
- Magic Kingdom - 3 days (the most magical place – you’ll want 2 days to see it all and an extra day to see your favorites again!)
- Hollywood Studios - 1 day (we use to like to spend extra time here if we could, but with the closing of the Backlot tour, parade, and fewer character meet & greets I think one day is more than enough.)
- Epcot – 1 day (you could easily spend longer if you watched every movie & show around the world and played a lot in the Imagination areas, but you’ll get on all the rides, walk through the countries, character pictures/autographs, and see Illuminations in one day.)
- Animal Kingdom - 1 day (You can see it all in 1 day, but you could spend longer watching the animals or seeing more characters)
If you have the time, our family loves spending 10 days at Disney World
Tend days is the maximum number of days you can get on a ticket. The extra 3 days will only cost about $30 additional per person! Crazy cheap right? Sure you need to add the extra hotel night, but especially if you can eat a ‘la cheap or snag free dining this is a great way to stay longer in the Disney magic for a steal! After all – for most of us the expense if flying/driving down there!!
You’ll have time to enjoy pools, play mini golf, explore downtown disney, slow down and enjoy the Disney charm, see all the characters you like, explore your resort, and more! If you spend a 10 days at Disney World here is my suggestion:
- Magic Kingdom – 5-6 days (by spending so many days here you are able to go back and explore your resort or go swimming during the hot, crowded afternoon hours; consider taking in a dinner show on a night the park closes early)
- Hollywood Studios – 1 day
- Epcot – 2 days (This park is better than people think. Not only does it have fun rides, shows, and a fun evening show, but it is a beautiful park that is well laid out with lots of spots to sit. Plus this park has my favorite Restaurants!)
- Animal Kingdom – 1 day (unless your family REALLY loves zoos or visits on a day with particular short hours)
- Water Park (optional)
If you are pressed for time or money, your family can see Disney in a 3 day whirlwind tour.
Although you’ll have little time to sit back and revel in the magical details, you will get to see all the major highlights.
- Magic Kingdom – 1 or 2 days (see itinerary)
- Hollywood Studios – 1/2 day (itinerary coming soon)
- Epcot – 1/2 day (itinerary coming soon)
- Animal Kingdom – 1/2 day (itinerary coming soon)
Is it affordable? YES! - There are ALWAYS deals (30% off room rates, kids play free, free Disney Dining Plan, etc.) The best way to find a great offer is to
- Work with a Travel Agent that specializes in Disney and will find you the deals. Even after you book they can apply new offers to your reservation. I highly recommend Magical Moments Vacation. They have many amazing agents you can work with! Personally I work with Jen Kistler who is super organized and quick at getting back to you.
- Order the official Disney World vacation planning DVD! Make sure you opt to receive email promotions. I have gotten many exclusive PIN offers for free dining or up to 40% off hotels this way. I don’t know that anyone outside of Disney knows when & why they mail them out, but you may receive an email or your may receive an offer in the mail.
- Sign-up for a Disney Visa card. Another way to get free offers is by having their visa card. There are other perks too: a one time sign-up bonus (I got $150 first statement credit so shop around on this offer), free stroller rental at Disneyland, private photo op with Mickey & Goofy at Epcot only for cardmembers, 6 month 0% financing on Disney vacations, plus Disney dream dollars that are good towards giftcards or merchandise online/stores/Disney.
