Heading to Disney World? Great Travel Advice!
For today’s Disney inspired kids activity we decided to weave our own placemats out of paper.

Disney Inspired Craft - Placemat Kid Activity
First You'll Need to Cut
You will need 2 complementing Disney themed scrapbook paper. Hold the two long sides together, taking care not to make a crease down the middle. Cut slits all the way down leaving 1-2” by where you are holding.
Hint: If you intend to laminate them to be used as placemats for actual meals make sure to trim the paper to a size that will fit in your laminator.
Time to Weave
Now cut strips from the coordinating paper that are about 2” wide. Show your child how to weave the strips through the mat going over/under alternately. The next strip should be going over/under opposite from the first one. Repeat first two rows until you can’t fit any more.
HINT: This activity was trickier than I thought. My 5 year old was able to do it with help. My 2nd Grader completed it mostly independently with just a couple reminders about the pattern from time to time.

Here are our completed works of art! These weaved placemats are fun to hang on a wall, use in a pretend play, or they can be laminated to be durable enough to be used at the kitchen table.
Here is Minnie’s laminated placemat – ready to use for dinner tonight. Can you tell we are excited to be going to Disney World!
